Tape of Teflon Fluorocarbon Resin as an Infrared Window Material

Abstract

In every analytical infrared laboratory there are invariably some samples that one would like to avoid. Included in this category are materials that vigorously etch cell windows and materials, like adhesives, that permanently mate windows together. While "inexpensive" disposable AgCl windows may be used for such samples, the price of silver may shortly make these adjectives less than accurate. For some of these samples, an alternative window material may be as close as the nearest roll of Teflon tape.
