Abstract
Diffuse reflectance UV-VIS spectroscopy is presented as an economical tool for studying reagents immobilized on silica gel. An appropriate approach to eliminating the spectral contribution of the substrate is presented. Diffuse reflectance spectra of the immobilized reagents, presented as the Kubelka-Munk function, are shown to resemble transmission spectra of model compounds. Several applications are presented in which immobilization sequences were monitored.
