The Raman Microprobe: A New Analytical Tool for Studying Solid Phase Reactions

Not Accessible

Abstract

Vibrational Raman spectroscopy has already been used to study reactions in the solid state. However, until now, this technique provided only an overall indication of the reaction. With the development of Raman microprobe, it is now possible to identify positively, at the microscopic scale, the various molecular species appearing at the interface between reactants. The reaction between copper sulfate (CuSO4·5H2O) and lead oxide (αPbO) at ambient temperature is used as an illustration.
