Abstract

Inelastic electron tunneling spectroscopy (IETS) was utilized to study hydridotriosmium decacarbonyl supported on an activated alumina surface. Triosmium dodecacarbonyl was adsorbed under a variety of conditions to give a surface-linked species. The bridging hydrogen observed at 1509 cm−1 is in accord with previous observations. Use of IETS to study supported metal cluster catalysts is critical to the rational design of novel catalysts.
