A Helium Inductively Coupled Plasma: Background Spectra Emitted in the Red and Near-Infrared Spectral Regions

Abstract

The atomic emission spectrum of a He ICP, generated in a low-gas-flow torch, was recorded for the wavelength range of 630 to 950 nm. In general, the background spectrum of the He ICP is much simpler than that of an Ar ICP. In contrast to the Ar ICP, prominent lines of Br, C, CI, I, and S in the He ICP are free from spectral interferences.
