Abstract

The active matrix electrophoretic display (AMEPD) has been commonly used for the applications of smart handheld reading devices such as e-books and e-news. This paper presents a new minimized waveform lookup-table that significantly reduces the table size of the conventional one by (2n) times, where n is the number of gray levels. The smaller size implies that more driving waveforms can be stored. The prototyped controller has connected to a 6-in AMEPD panel, and an excellent display quality has demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed controller design.
