Abstract

We present a simple noniterative scheme for calculation of reflectivity for optical waveguide facet. By multiplying an operator to the standard reflection formula, we reduce the original matrix inversion involving the implicit square-root operators to an explicit solution. The new formula is extremely simple and easy to implement, especially for the TE case, where an analytical expression is obtained without involving any matrix inversion. The accuracy and efficiency of the new solution scheme are assessed and verified by numerical experiments.
