Label Erasure Using an Imbalanced NOLM and Its Application in a 40-Gb/s Label Switching Optical Network

Abstract

A novel scheme based on the nonlinear transmission function of an imbalanced nonlinear optical loop mirror (NOLM) is used to realize label erasure. The scheme has been successfully applied in a 40 Gb/s label switching optical network with a transmission distance of 200 km.
