An Efficient Semi-Analytic Method for Analysis of 2-D Photonic Crystals

Abstract

Using analytical methods, an efficient and accurate algorithm is developed for the computation of spectrum and eigenmodes of two-dimensional slab photonic crystals. The dispersion relation at higher modes and the complex wavenumber in the band gaps can be determined accurately by this method. The dimensions of matrices appear in the numerical calculation are 20 by 20 at most. Consequently, the algorithm is efficient as far as the CPU capacity and computational time are concerned.
