A Message From the JLT Editor-in-Chief: “State of the Journal”

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

DEAR JLT authors, readers, reviewers, and enthusiastic supporters: First of all, I would like to thank you for your continued support to IEEE/OSA JOURNAL OF LIGHTWAVE TECHNOLOGY (JLT). It has been a little over two years since my last editorial “Raising the Bar for Publication,” published in April 2010. Since then, we have been vigilant on the adoption of faster publication cycle and more stringent review criteria to publish papers with high technical quality, noteworthy ground-breaking results and novelty. This effort has paid off with the dedication and hard work of the entire JLT Editorial Board and staff. We are delighted to report that the ISI impact factor for JLT is 2.784 in 2011, significantly increased from the previous two years of 2.22. It is ranked 5th of 78 publications in Telecommunications, 9th of 77 in Optics, and 25th in all of 244 publications in electrical and electronic engineering, including all types and lengths.
