  7. The 1965 band is known to be of electronic origin, hence its position ought not to be influenced greatly by the physical state of the material. This is substantiated by the work of W. C. Price (Washington Meeting Am. Phys. Soc., April 23, 1935; Phys. Rev. 47, 788A (1935)) on CS2 vapor. He finds a broad absorption band with its center near 1990A.
