Abstract
A system for the calibration of spectrum records produced by recording spectrographs is described. The method employs as a fiducial scale the recorded interference peaks produced in dispersed white light by a Fabry-Perot etalon and is consequently free of usual systematic calibration errors. Practical details of the method as used for measurements in the infrared with a grating instrument of high resolving power are outlined. Calibration equations are developed for this case and a discussion of factors determining the accuracy of measurement is presented.
