Abstract

The high-dispersion absorption spectrum of Au i has been photographed in the 1300–1900 Å region. Observations include the 6sS21/2npP23/2,1/2o transitions for n = 7 through n = 42, 5d96s2D25/2npP23/2o for n = 8 through 12, and transitions from 6s 2S1/2 to levels associated with the interloper configurations 5d96s6p and 5d86s26p. The ionization potential of Au i determined from the np 2Po series is 74 408.88 ± 0.17 cm−1.
