  9. In the work with mercury the liquid was contained in a pyrex beaker, the bottom of which was ground plane inside and out, set upon the top electrode of the quartz plate. The piston in this case was made of the bottom of a small pyrex beaker ground plane after being fused to a pyrex tube to serve as piston rod.
