  8. Acknowledgement is made to Professor M. N. States for a helpful suggestion. In his classes he has been using polar coordinate paper, coated with smoke on the reverse side; on this surface a tuning fork trace is made. After fixing, equal groups of undulations in the trace are counted out, and the division points transferred by a needle prick to the coordinate scale on the opposite side of the sheet.
