  2. The samples were placed over a two-inch diameter hole in an eight-inch diameter integrating sphere which was coated on the inside with magnesium oxide. The actual area measured was approximately circular and had a diameter of about one inch. The standard comparison white was a freshly prepared magnesium oxide surface, a surface having a substantially nonselective reflectance of 97.4 percent, according to J. S. Preston, "The Reflection Factor of Magnesium Oxide," Trans. Opt. Soc. 31, 15 (1929-30).
