Coefficients of Reflection in the Ultraviolet of Magnesium Carbonate and Oxide

Abstract

The coefficients of reflection of magnesium carbonate and magnesium oxide have been determined for eight mercury lines in the ultraviolet. A spectrometer made up of a Rowland grating furnished a spectrum of light reflected from a part-sphere of the material under test. A photo-multiplier tube received the spectrum. The materials are both good reflectors, the oxide being especially good since it is over 0.90 at all points tested.
