Abstract

A spectrochemical method of analysis used for control purposes in casting Vitallium is described in this paper. The immediate need for such a method was so urgent that only a small amount of development time was possible; control analyses were being made within three days of the time the problem was submitted. Improvements were made in the method in the course of the work. Reproducibility and accuracy data are given in the paper. This problem illustrates that a great deal of analytical work can be done with a spectrograph even though accurate comparison standards are not available.
