Abstract
A mathematical study of the variation of brightness with time, of a theoretically exponential decay phosphor excited by a sinusoidal current as a function of the relative decay time, and frequency of excitation, shows a phase lag and a decrease of amplitude of response increasing with the relative increase of decay time. The response is never sinusoidal and the increase in brightness is never as great as the decrease, which is characteristic of systems of a constant decay rate k involving the factor K/(K+k).
