Abstract

The use of the Hunter multipurpose reflectometer for color measurement has been limited, particularly at low reflectances, by inaccuracies arising chiefly from stray light in the optical system. A baffle is described whose installation greatly reduces stray light, so that its effect may be ignored above 2 percent reflectance. A method is also described for making corrections for stray light in those cases where its effect cannot be neglected. Application of these two procedures permits the Hunter reflectometer to furnish useful data down to reflectances of 0.1 percent.
