Abstract
The rapidly augmenting library of known molecular spectra makes standardized choice of scales urgent. Conversion of an early single beam instrument to double beam, recording optical density, transmission or single beam vs linear frequency, is described. An amplifier based upon the time sharing (Hornig) principle provides servo control of slit, gain, time constant, and recording rate to reduce the noise at high densities and provide adequate speed of recording.
