Abstract

A method of separating the overlapping orders of a concave grating spectrograph in the vacuum ultraviolet region by means of a grazing incidence concave foregrating is described. It is shown that by a suitable choice of the constants of the foregrating it is possible to eliminate the astigmatism of the whole system. Experimental results obtained with such a foregrating are shown.
