Distribution of Fluorescence from a Disk-Shaped Cuvette

Abstract

Errors due to internal reflection in cuvettes used for absolute fluorescence measurements were investigated. The angular distribution of fluorescence and the flux along the normal from a disk-shaped cuvette were measured. The distribution of fluorescence from the cuvette with blackened back and sides was close to the expected distribution and the flux along the normal increased by only 5% at 4 cm-distance, as against 20% for the unpainted cuvette.
