Abstract
A method for the precise determination of pore structure using photographic photometry is described. Porosity, homogeneity, average pore size, and separation are determinable. Special metallographic and photographic techniques are used to obtain a nearly exact photomicrographic replica of the test sample, and porosity is measured with an integrating reflectometer. Design and construction details of this instrument are given. The method is applied to the matrix evaluation of porous tungsten. Advantages of the method are low cost, simplicity, rapidity, elimination of human errors and tediousness, high resolution, and great accuracy.
