Abstract

Absorption cross-section values for polarized light have been measured for pink-ruby specimens by a multiple thickness correlation method. The values (in 10-20 cm2) are: σB11 = 38.1, σG1 = 22.8, σB1 = 22.5, σG11 = 7.23, σR11 = 1.22, σR21=0.975, σR211 = 0.263, and σR111= 0.168, where B and G stand for the blue and green broad bands, R1, R2, the R-lines.
