Gaseous Atomic-Beam Light Source

Abstract

This paper describes a gaseous atomic-beam light source which has produced highly monochromatic and relatively intense spectra of the rare gases, helium, argon, neon, and xenon. The theoretical considerations governing the design of such a source are discussed. Some results of preliminary measurements are given.
