Abstract

A theoretical interpretation for all 70 observed energy levels belonging to the subconfiguration 4f6(7F)4s4p of Sm i is given. Energy matrices of both electrostatic and spin-orbit interactions were included in the calculation. The interaction parameters were adjusted by least squares to give an average agreement within 1% between the predicted and observed levels.
