GeSeTe—A New Infrared-Transmitting Chalcogenide Glass

Abstract

This paper presents the results of measurements of the properties of GeSeTe, a new chalcogenide glass. When purified, the glass exhibits good transmission in the infrared between 2 and 18 μ. Electrically the glass behaves as a semiconductor with an energy band gap of 1.72 eV. Several other properties of GeSeTe and closely associated glass are discussed.
