Rotational Spectrum of Hydrogen Fluoride: Frequencies and Linewidths

Not Accessible

Abstract

The individual lines of the rotational spectrum of gaseous hydrogen fluoride were studied in absorption. The frequencies of 17 lines were measured and the ground-state rotational constants calculated. Measurements of transmittance as a function of frequency provided data which were analyzed using a modification of the method of equivalent widths to provide linewidths of 14 rotational lines. These are compared with linewidths evaluated from a resonant-dipole billiard-ball model.
