Abstract

To explore, for typical surface colors, the shift of color when illuminant is changed from CIE Ill. C to the newly-adopted CIE Ill. D6500, spectral data for 228 samples from the Munsell Book of Color (glossy-finish edition) were integrated to CIE tristimulus values referred to each illuminant. For each sample, MacAdam color differences were computed between the tristimulus values for the two illuminants. They ranged between 2 and 10 MacAdam units, varying systematically with Munsell hue, value, and chroma.
