Abstract
The energy splitting of the fine-structure levels 3p4, 3p2 in neon has been measured using difference-frequency resonance techniques in the 3.39-μ He–Ne laser system. A method of observing these resonances, based on the different tuning rates with resonator-length change of two close optical oscillation frequencies and their difference, is described and a dependence of the resonance line shape and center frequency on the optical-frequency intensities is noted.
