Corrections for Modulation and Time-Constant Effects on Isolated Level-Crossing Signals

Abstract

An expression is obtained for the first Fourier coefficient of modulated dispersion curves, which can be used with Wahlquist’s analysis for Lorentz curves to describe any level-crossing signal obtained by modulating magnetic or electric fields. Corrections to the widths and centers of both Δm=1 and Δm=2 signals are tabulated for distortions which arise from modulation, optical misalignment, and the use of large integrating times in phase-sensitive detectors.
