Abstract
A state-of-the-art review is given of the molecular branching-ratio method for intensity calibration in the vacuum ultraviolet. Ways are described for determining both relative and quantitative responses in the wavelength range 1000 Å < λ < 3000 Å. The molecular band systems that are discussed are H2(B1∑u+ − X1∑g+), H2(C1πu − X1∑g+), N2(a1πg − X1∑g+), CO (A1π − X1∑+), NO (A2∑+ − X2πr), and NO+(A1π − X1∑+).
