Abstract

An optical-wave field is represented in the positive half-space by (1) evanescent plus uniform plane waves and (2) nonuniform plane waves that propagate in all positive directions. A method is given to determine the spectrum of the latter from the spatial distribution of magnitude and phase of the far field.
