Abstract

The high-dispersion absorption spectrum of Au I has been photographed in the 1300–1900 Å region. Observations include the 6s21/2np2P03/2, 1/2 transitions for n = 7 through n = 42, 5d96s22D5/2np2P03/2 for n = 8 through 12, and transitions from 6s 2S1/2 to levels associated with the interloper configurations 5d96s6p and 5d86s26p. The ionization potential of Au I determined from the np2p0 series is 74 408.88 ± 0.17 cm-1.
