Abstract

The effects of a finite reference source size are described for the cases of Fourier-transform holograms and image-plane holograms. This paper derives expressions for the image distribution when the reference source and the source illuminating the recorded hologram both are extended sources at arbitrary positions. The particular hologram configurations considered are variations of the Fourier-transform holograms, the quasi-Fourier-transform hologram, and the general Fresnel hologram.
