Abstract

An important statistical property of a developed photographic film that manifests itself in the expression for film-grain noise intensity is the autocorrelation function of its transmittance fluctuations. We derive this function for the general case where a developed grain has a complex transmittance. Some special cases of this general formula are discussed.
