Abstract
Optical design modules may be used to initiate an optical design for which third-order spherical aberration and astigmatism are equal to zero. Equations have previously been available to make other third-order aberrations and primary color aberrations equal to zero also. Equations are here derived that may be used to make any of the fifth-order aberrations equal to zero as well. Details of the derivation are shown for fifth-order astigmatism, and results are given for the other fifth-order aberrations. Sample calculations demonstrate the use of the equations.
