Beam-foil study of fluorine in the far uv

Abstract

The beam-foil spectrum of fluorine has been studied in the far uv at energies ranging from 1 to 12 MeV. Identifications have been suggested for 22 lines of F vi, vii, and viii in the wavelength range between 400 and 1200 Å including three F vii transitions from doubly excited states. Mean lives of 29 levels in F ii to F viii were measured, and these are compared with other measurements and with theoretical values where available.
