Abstract

From collision-induced fluorescence spectroscopy measurements, we have determined the transition probability A of the 5971-Å transition in neutral uranium. Our value, A5971 = (5.9 ± 1.8) × 105 sec-1, is, within experimental error, in good agreement with the previous determination of Corliss, A5971 = (7.3 ± 3.0) × 105 sec-1 [J. Res. Nat. Bur. Stand. Sect. A 80, 1 (1976)].
