Abstract
The self-Fourier functions discussed by Lohmann and Mendlovic [J. Opt. Soc. Am. A 9, 2009 (1992)] can be shown intuitively to be relevant to optical resonators. They are derivable as the quantum-mechanical eigen-functions of any Hamiltonian that is invariant on interchange of p and x.
