Abstract

To reveal the advantages and capabilities of a recently published method [J. Opt. Soc. Am. A 8, 755 (1991)] for the improvement of the modal approach to the analysis of gratings, we propose some additional numerical experiments in cases in which the previous differential method is known to fail.
