Abstract
The thin-grating decomposition method is employed to evaluate the properties of hybrid holographic gratings, i.e., volume holograms recorded with a plane reference wave and an object wave produced by a periodic computer-generated hologram. The effects of the object wave period, defocusing, spatial filtering, reference to object beam ratio, and off-Bragg incidence on the quality of the regenerated signal are investigated; hybrid kinoform array generators are used as an illustration.
