Stiles–Crawford apodization and the Campbell effect

Abstract

By introducing an apodizing filter in front of the natural pupil, to compensate for the attenuation produced by the Stiles–Crawford effect, it was possible to reduce but not completely eliminate the Campbell effect for Young’s double-slit fringes.
