Source-field representation in terms of Gaussian beams

Abstract

The problem of field expansion is studied in terms of Gaussian beams and complex source points. Particular attention has been devoted to obtaining analytical expressions for the field valid from the near to the far field as well as in regions where singularities of the geometrical-optics field are found. The method has been applied to different propagation problems, such as the study of the field in cusp regions determined by a focused source or by a parabolic reflector with off-focus feed.
