Abstract
Transmission and reflection properties of a plane wave incident upon a nematic liquid-crystal (NLC) multilayer are examined. Focus is placed on the computation of the transmitted and reflected electromagnetic fields in the configuration characterized by a plane parallel to the incident wave vector and to all directors in the different layers. The solution is presented in the form of a perturbative expansion. Simple prescriptions to evaluate the different orders of the expansion are given.
