Abstract

An approximate but accurate second condition for the pseudo-Brewster angle ϕPB, valid in a range of n and k values, that has the advantage of replacing the well-known cubic equation for cot2 ϕPB by a quadratic equation for sin2 ϕPB is derived. It is also found that the optical constants of most semiconductors in the visible and near-ultraviolet ranges lie within the region of applicability of this second pseudo-Brewster-angle condition.
