Abstract

The changes in the spectrum and in the degree of coherence of partially coherent light reflected from a stratified medium are studied. Reflection from a homogeneous dielectric slab is analyzed in detail for the case when the incident field is produced by a one-dimensional Gaussian Schell-model source. Results of numerical calculations are presented for several representative values of the parameters. Appreciable changes in the spectrum and in the degree of coherence are found to be produced in some cases.
