Launched in 1917, the Journal of the Optical Society of America (JOSA) was devoted to publishing the latest developments in optics and photonics. Then in 1984, the Journal split into two: the Journal of the Optical Society of America A (JOSA A) dedicated to classical optics, image science, and vision and the Journal of the Optical Society of America B (JOSA B) devoted to optical physics.
