Abstract
After its success in the explanation of the isotope shift in the 5d elements, the applicability of the parametric description was also tested for the lanthanides. The following configurations were found to be suitable and useful objects for investigation: 4ƒn6s2 (Nd, Sm, Dy, Er), 4ƒn5d6s (Eu, Yb), 4ƒn6s6p (Eu, Er, Yb), and 4ƒn−15d6s2 (Gd). The first results for Sm, Eu, and Dy are compiled.
